The Press Apprentice loads stock in the press. Removes printed stock from the press and moves it to a holding area Ensures that the proper printing plates are pulled for the job. Hangs and removes the printing plates on the press Ensures that the ink fountains are full Replenishes press chemistry Cleans the press and its tools Is responsible for housekeeping in the press area Duties include but are not limited to: Manages the stock for the press (i.e., loading and unloading) Starts the feed at the direction of the Press Operator Keeps cleans the tools (i.e. ink knives). Ensures that materials are ready for a quick set up and run Trains with the Press Operator and learns on the job Advancement is dependent on the demonstration of competencies associated with running a press. The operator troubleshoots and solves problems. The Apprentice effectively communicates with the Press Operator and is a team player. The Press Apprentice: follows standard procedures; follows safety policy and procedure.
