Oversee the development and implementation of systems redesigns projects, quality improvements and assurance programs of Neurology services. In addition to the clinical duties you will have an academic appointment at Albany Medical College. You would apply for the faculty position after hire and will be integrally involved in all teaching and research activities. Teaching responsibilities include resident mentorship during their rotation at the SVAMC and outpatient Neurology clinic preceptor. The Staff Neurologist will provide care to neurology outpatients and inpatient consultation to Medical, Surgical and Behavioral Health Services. Some neurologic procedures and testing is expected as well as a nominal and limited amount of participation in nighttime call from home. Consultant activities include general neurological examinations on established or newly consulted patients in the Neurology clinics, inpatient wards or Emergency Department. You will use an array of state-of-the-art modalities including clinical video telehealth, electronic (chart) consultation and VA-Video Connect. We do not have an admitting Neurology service so all inpatient activities will be as a consultant. Teaching responsibilities for Medical Students and Residents are ad hoc. Appointment to the Neurology Faculty at Albany Medical College will be consistent with experience. The ideal candidate will be proficient in routine Neurologic procedures such as EMGs, NCVs and EEGs.
