Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Position Location: St. Paul, MN, Wyoming, MN & Oakdale, MN Job Type: Full-time Northstar Behavioral Health is a team of chemical dependency professionals that specialize in medication-assisted treatment through an inpatient, residential, multi-faceted programming structure at our St. Paul location for those battling opioid addition. Our integrated team of chemical dependency professionals work with residents individually and in group settings. We are looking for individuals that possess the ability to counsel residents and help them to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the LADC Position Responsible to ensure and/or deliver and properly document the provision of treatment services including: the initial service plan (which addresses the resident’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs), comprehensive assessment within three days of service initiation using ASAM criteria, individual treatment plan, progress notes entered weekly on all residents and reference the individual treatment plan, summary at termination of services within five days of residents termination, and the maintenance of resident records in accordance with Minnesota Rule 9530. In this role, the LADC would be leading individual and group counseling, and this role would also have access to growth opportunities mentioned in the company description above. Other responsibilities include Maintain resident records in accordance with Northstar policy requirements. Other duties as assigned by LADC Supervisor Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain Alcohol and Drug Counselor license. Attend in-house training and all Northstar staff meetings. Counselor will share the responsibility of conducting groups which includes sharing group hours with other LADC and leading group for 15 hours a week. Each counselor has a caseload of up to 8 residents when facility is at full capacity, counselor will conduct a minimum of 1 hour individual sessions per week with each resident. All Northstar Behavioral Health staff are required to complete medication administration training in case of the event they need to pass medications. Each counselor will complete intakes for residents that will be on their caseload. LADC may also be required to transport residents to appointments when needed. LADC will have weekly check in with Treatment Director with all updated resident documentation. LADC will maintain weekly contact with referents and fax weekly progress notes for each resident. Minimum Qualifications Required Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Alcohol Drug Counselor Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record Bachelor's degree Must have 1 or more years providing chemical dependency counseling (supervised internship applies) CPR Certification or attain within 30 days Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills Required education Bachelor's degree Please include position and location in the subject line of your application email.

The hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient's care. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Responsibilities of the hospice aide include, but are not limited to, the following: Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality. Assisting in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist. Provide normal range of motion and transfers/positioning as directed. Assistance with self-administered medications as allowed by state regulations, such as “reminders.” Offering and assisting with bedpans and urinals. Providing assistance as assigned with light laundry needs. Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency. Providing respite for patient's/family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate. Keeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned. Adhering to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct. Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities. Respectful of patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs. Qualifications Position Qualifications Meets the training requirements of the State. Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training. Sixteen hours of class room must be completed prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training. At least 18 years of age. Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given. Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill. Satisfactory references from previous employers. Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Secure with issues of death/dying. Provides a calm manner when in a patient’s home. Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired. Possess and maintains current CPR certification. Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene. Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization requirements and is in good working order. Successfully completes a probationary period. This probationary period is to ensure the aide is competent in the above qualifications, and is documented by the supervisor and the employee. Job Limitations The hospice aide will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the hospice aide will not administer medications, take physician's orders or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a licensed nurse, such as sterile techniques.
