Responsibilities include trouble shooting and implementing solutions to a variety of software engineering problems in a timely manner. Responsible for frequent use, and application of software engineering standards and techniques, including Object Oriented Design and Agile development techniques. Position Highlights/Responsibilities Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Surgical Technologist Program. BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.) Licensure/Certifications: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. State licensure if required by law. Candidate is eligible to receive a $1,500 sign-on bonus Histotechnologist - Provides high quality routine Hematoxylin and Eosin, immunohistochemically and histochemically stained slides to pathologist for routine or complex diagnosis and prognostic markers. Job duties Embeds and sections processed tissue sections to produce slides for diagnosis. Sections frozen tissue to produce slides for quick diagnosis during surgical procedures. Performs special staining techniques for interstitial elements of tissue sections to include micro-organisms and various cellular components including antigens and enzymes for complex diagnosis and prognostic markers. Conducts research and titrations of new antibodies used as diagnostic tools for diagnosis and prognosis. Serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed. Maintains immediate work area and equipment used for embedding and sectioning specimens. Maintains processing equipment, stainers and solutions used in processes. Requirements Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program; or 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry combined with one year full time acceptable experience in histopathology; or Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with combination of 30 semester hours of biology and chemistry combined with successful completion of a NAACLS accredited HT or HTL program or one year full time acceptable experience in histopathology. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). State licensure if required by law. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides instruction to patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of equipment and/or respiratory care procedures. Ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment. Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs. Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on individual needs. May need to perform on-call duties as needed. Provides and operates various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition. Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation. Responsible for accurate data entry on monitoring websites for certain respiratory equipment Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition, home environment, and Plan of Care. Participates in ongoing education and training sessions regarding respiratory patient care. Assist with patient scheduling as needed. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Required Qualifications Meets company minimum standard of Background Check Education and/or Experience Graduate of an accredited program for respiratory therapy is required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations Must possess a valid and current driver's license and auto insurance per Apria policy. May be required to drive personal vehicle for patient home visits. Registration or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Does not include RN or LPN clinicians. Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy. Hold a current CPR Certification. Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
