POSITION PURPOSE: The director of annual giving is responsible for all annual fundraising activities in support of the mission of VVMC and its affiliated organizations. The Director of Annual Giving will serve as a member of the development management team and is responsible for achieving the annual funding goal. This position receives direction from and reports to the President of the Foundation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. The Director of Annual Giving leads the donor acquisition and renewal program at VVMC. The Director serves as a member of the leadership team in the Foundation and has bottom-line responsibility for managing the direct-response donor program for VVMC. 2. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates all annual direct response fundraising programs focused on donor acquisition, renewal, and growth; this includes, but is not limited, to any VVMC Staff Giving Campaigns, Direct Response Giving (i.e. Direct Mail, email, etc.), Sponsorships of Annual Events (i.e. Friends of VVMC, Pink Vial, etc.) 3. Manages the development and implementation of direct mail, email and other digital efforts in multiple annual campaigns. 4. Designs reports and manages a system to analyze the effectiveness of the program on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis through detailed, statistical analysis of the donor pool, response rates, ROI, etc., and establish a clear set of benchmarks. 5. Builds strong renewal growth via direct mail and digital channels and develop regular giving programs. 6. Identifies and implements new media approaches to grow online donations. 7. Works in close cooperation with the Development Administrator, Prospect Management and Campaigns and the President of the Foundation to identify, qualify and \"hand off' annual fund donors to the major gift team for individualized donor cultivation and solicitation of Major Gifts. 8. Create, plan and implement both current and new initiatives to cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and existing corporate and individual leadership annual donors. 9. This position will identify prospects, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership annual gifts at the $500-$25,000 gift levels, contributing toward an annual program goal. 10. Cultivate and maintain relationships with Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) donors; successfully managing a small portfolio of LAG prospects throughout the fundraising cycle-cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship-with the goal of soliciting annual support for VVMC strategic initiatives. Promote the giving societies whenever possible. Coordinate with appropriate volunteers, as applicable. 11. Work closely with the Development Administrator, Prospect Management and Campaigns to continually review prospect lists to ensure donors are solicited for the proper gift levels. 12. Works with designated Foundation Staff to facilitate the production of proposals, special reports and other projects pertaining to the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Leadership Annual Giving donors including gift-in-kind contributions and underwriting/sponsorship of special events. 13. Collaborates closely with the Development Administrator, Prospect Management and Campaigns and the Manager, Foundation Database to utilize Raiser's Edge to create and track fundraising goals, and updates and maintains records as necessary. 14. In collaboration with the Benefactor Relations Team, plan and oversee LAG giving societies and/or membership programs. 15. May perform other duties as assigned or requested. Must be HIPAA compliant. 16. Role models the principles of a Just Culture. QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of experience in development or experience in marketing, sales or public relations, supplemented by experience as an employee or volunteer for a not-for-profit institution. Project coordination/management experience. Superior communications skills, including writing and presentation skills, as well as ability to present before a group. Discretion and ability to interact with high-level donors. Strong computer software program skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Experience with information systems including fundraising databases required; experience with Raiser's Edge a plus. Effectively secures all required insurance treatment authorizations prior to treatment initiation for radiation, chemotherapy, and infusions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Regularly interacts with patients and staff to effectively coordinate multiple oncology-specific patient appointments. 2. Obtains all required insurance prior authorizations for radiation, chemotherapy, and infusion prior to treatment initiation and appropriately documents all necessary insurance authorizations for billing purposes. 3. Routinely collects patient demographic and insurance information and correctly enters/updates all patient information within the EMR. 4. Triages multiple phone lines and ensure all patients are directed to the appropriate department. Resolves all non-clinical questions while providing excellent customer service on the phone. 5. Utilizes the Oncology EMR to systematically communicate with oncology staff and outside departments regarding patient appointments, insurance updates, outstanding patient records and treatment authorization status. 6. Acts as the primary contact for all new oncology and hematology patients. Interviews all new patients to obtain and document their oncology-specific medical/treatment history for records collection prior to the new patient consultation. 7. Acts as the primary contact for all external infusion patients. Liaise with the ordering physician's office to obtain complete infusion orders and pertinent medical records. Works closely with the oncology pharmacist and infusion nurses to confirm all necessary information is received and electronically scanned to the EMR. 8. Responsible for continuously monitoring the insurance treatment authorizations for all patients on treatment and requesting updates and extensions as treatment regimens are changed. 9. Acts as a liaison between the patient, clinical staff and the insurance company to ensure all appropriate clinical information is gathered and effectively communicates any anticipated treatment delays due to insurance authorization. 10. Provides coverage of all front desk functions when the Senior Patient Access Representative is out of the office and provides administrative and clerical support as needed for oncology patients and staff. 11. Promote an atmosphere of warmth, compassion, and understanding while demonstrating empathy and the ability to relate to families in crisis.
