JOB SCOPE / PURPOSE: The Site Manager is responsible for leading a team and managing the day-to-day activities in the safest and efficient method within a customer site to exceed customer expectations. This position is responsible for communicating and building sustainable relationships with the customer to assess cost changes and selling opportunities as needed. This position is responsible for leading and developing a group of individuals in efforts to increase skill sets and shift talent throughout the organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all activities associated within the customer site Ensure that equipment and human capital correlate with customer contract to properly maintain and manage budget Work closely with the General Manager and other leadership members to plan and secure all resources necessary to complete the job Adjust budget according to customer needs Plan for both scheduled and unscheduled jobs through the proper utilization of human capital and equipment Ensure equipment is properly maintained, clean, and in working conditions at all times Develop an understanding of the customer manufacturing process to properly plan and complete jobs efficiently and safely Proactively assess selling opportunities by understanding customer processes and communicating accordingly Ensure all administrative duties are completed properly and on time such as timesheets, POs, etc. Attend customer meetings as required to communicate financial status and activities occurring on site Build relationships with all key customer representatives Communicate job scope changes, job details, job costs saving, and potential job opportunities with customer representatives Control cost through properly managing consumables, equipment, and human capital Lead, coach, train, and support a group of employees Identify and develop talent within the site team to move talent through the organization Proactively assess safety opportunities to create a culture conducive to safety Enforce and communicate all Thompson and customer safety rules with the team Ensure all employees are prepared to complete jobs in the safest way possible: PPE, etc. Report any quality issues to the appropriate leadership Act is a way that is professional and representative of Thompson Industrial Service, LLC at all times WORK ENVIRONMENT: Tools, equipment, machinery used: Large industrial cleaning equipment and materials, large industrial vehicles, and computers and basic computer systems (Word, Excel, etc). Working conditions: Normal office environment (on-site and off-site locations), outside work, extreme temperatures, noisy conditions, shift work, flexible schedules, on-call hours, 24/7 availability. Physical effort required: Some heavy lifting, working with large machinery, confined spaces, and heights. Travel required when needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree preferred, preferably in engineering or industrial field. Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including but not limited to: obtaining and reviewing driver itinerary, checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries, counting items and checking customer invoices of products that have been loaded, moving tractors to the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers, completing required trailer temperature checks and performing pre-trip safety check inspections of trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drive to and deliver customer orders to meet the scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery schedules. Use electronic time keeping system to log in time at customer site. Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas. Visually survey customers site during the approach to determine hazards. Unload products from the trailer with a hand truck or by hand and place items in designated customer storage areas. Verify delivery of correct items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Contact distribution center management for authorization of invoice discrepancies and communicate all errors and returns. As requested by management, drive backhauls which requires picking up product from vendors and bring back to warehouse for receiving while staying within DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. As requested by management, drive shuttles which requires moving loaded trailers containing various food products, equipment and supplies and empty trailers to and from remote dispatch sites while staying within DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. Return tractor and trailer to distribution center when route is completed. Perform all post-trip responsibilities including but not limited to: unloading damaged goods and customer returns and completing necessary paperwork; performing safety checks on the truck and trailer, unhooking and securing the trailer; fueling (as required by the distribution center); parking and securing the tractor and hand truck; completing DOT logs (electronic or manual as required) and company vehicle maintenance reports (DVIR) and reconcile these with the appropriate company representative as required. The Sales Representative will have routed stores with an assigned store call schedule that will vary based upon Customer selling influence, as well as selling and merchandising responsibilities at their routed stores.
