The position requires work planning, coordination of work, scheduling and delivery of high quality complex mechanical equipment designs. Fully responsible for the independent development of complete three dimensional/solid model designs including concepts/layouts, analysis models, design basis studies, final design production drawings required for manufacturing. An understanding of configuration control in the design process and database management of components and assemblies. Functional areas include but are not limited to: Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Reactor Plant Systems and components, Reactor Plant Arrangements, Piping, Test Equipment and Reactor Servicing and associated equipment design. Complete calculations pertaining to fit of components and assemblies in mechanical systems. Develop Alignment and Tolerance Studies to ensure that equipment function properly if manufactured and assemble to the worst case tolerance conditions. Accurately interpret instructions from engineers and others and apply mechanical design standards to designs striving for zero defects.
