A hospital in Oklahoma is seeking a hospitalist who can provide locum tenens coverage for approximately seven months beginning in early July with a high chance of extension. On a typical day, the provider can expect to see patients for a variety of cases: Very easy job - Rounding only - will be assigned fifteen patients to round on (fifteen is the cap - so providers are guaranteed to not have more than fifteen patients). Locum will be mostly managing vents and handling H&P's. Closed ICU - no procedures. Every hospitalist is capped at fifteen patients. The client has NP's and perm staff that handle admissions plus client has a separate team that handles codes. The locum will work on a 7 on 7 off schedule from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This facility uses Cerner EMR. Responsibilities The Hospitalist Staff Physician is a direct patient care position and is responsible for carrying out operations of the Hospitalist Section of the Medicine Service. The staff physician collaborates with the Section Chief to determine the mission and objectives of the Section. In addition to clinical matters, the Staff Physician participates in education and training activities within the Service. Serve as attending medicine physician on the hospitalist service at Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) with duties that include: admissions, daily rounds for direct patient care, all indicated routine medical and critical care procedures. Coordinate Specialty service . Coordinate all services for the admitted patients including Social Work, Physical Therapy, Discharge coordination, Surgical Care and ICU care. Manage all aspects of care delivered in the ICU, including intubation, ventilator management, central line placement, thrombolytics, emergency cardioversion and other ACLS interventions. Provide Medical Consultative services for any inpatient on the non-medical services such as Surgery, Psychiatry and Substance Abuse Recovery Unit. Coordinate with the Emergency Department for any observation stay or acute IP admission requested by ED physicians. Supervise administration of specialty care infusions for Heme/Onc, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Rheumatology patients as prescribed and directed by the various specialty care physicians. Work Schedule: Hospitalist's rotate equally through all necessary duty hours to cover the inpatient service around the clock and every day of the year. Required to prepare process job descriptions and manufacturing specifications, thoroughly documents all equipment, machines, and tooling with accurate and clear detailed prints and maintenance instructions. Validation With the assistance of the QE and validation team, creates all necessary documentation associated with the BD change control process and coordinates validation activities to ensure on time execution according to the project or process improvement plan. Manufacturing Support Provides technical guidance as needed to manufacturing and hourly technical personnel during the start up of new or changed products and processes. Uses good decision making, problem solving and trouble-shooting techniques to minimize the potential or correct ongoing manufacturing issues. Capital Request / Capital Management Prepares a plan for procurement of capital equipment including obtaining of quotes, vendor investigation, budgeting, and scheduling. Prepares specifications, place orders, coordinate procurement, install equipment, debug and coordinate the start up of new or modified equipment from outside firms or as modified internally, manages capital spending on assigned projects to ensure spending in accordance with the plan capital budget. Design Coordinate design activity with outside vendors or internal departments as necessary. If resources are unavailable, perform own design and drafting as required. Redesigns or oversees the redesign of existing equipment to incorporate improvements relating to safety, machine reliability, product quality, and / or cost reduction. Must have the ability to speak, read and write English. Indirectly supervises all resources assigned to project teams. Ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
