Metropolitan State University of Denver is an equal opportunity employer. Duties/Responsibilities Teach 3 or more credit hours. Be available for consultation with students. Will work and interact with diverse groups of individuals. Areas to be taught include: NUTRITION: Introduction to Nutrition, Cultural Aspects of Nutrition, Nutrition Concepts and Controversies, Concepts of Lifecycle Nutrition, Nutrition & Weight Management, Nutrition & Sports, Human Nutrition, Advanced Human Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Lifecycle Nutrition. Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semester by semester basis. Affiliate Faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. An Affiliate faculty member’s duties include: meeting assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university, college, and department policies; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies; being available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies. Candidates need to be sensitive to the educational needs of students from a diverse population, conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum, and must be willing to adhere to policies and procedures regarding students and faculty as established by the University and Department. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. This is an entry-level full time professional research assistant (PRA) position in the Nutrition Core of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI), which provides research and training infrastructure as well as core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists. The purpose of the position is to provide expert nutritional support and weighed, metabolic meals for investigators with CCTSI research protocols. It is anticipated that this position will spend approximately 50% time in the diet office and 50% time in the metabolic kitchen, producing diets. Examples of Work Performed: • Metabolic diet weighing and production • Ordering food and consumables for kitchen operations, budget tracking • Maintain and update food inventories and databases • Calculation of protocol- and subject-specific diets which meet all study targets (ProNutra software) • Data entry • Conduct dietary intake measurements via 24h food recall, food frequency questionnaires, and diet diaries, including participant instruction • Conduct participant data collection visits including anthropometric measurements in adults and children • Analyze nutrient intake data • Develop and implement study-specific educational materials • Review and implementation of new CTRC protocols • Act as an interface between the Nutritionists, kitchen staff, and investigators/study PRA’s • Participant scheduling • Review of relevant literature and performance of literature searches • Day-to-day administrative tasks for the CCTSI Nutrition Core • Other duties as requested by the Nutrition Research Director Salary and Benefits: The hiring salary for this position is $35,000to $50,000 commensurate with skills and experience.
