This 12-month faculty position is renewable initially on an annual basis, followed by multi-year appointments, based on performance, teaching needs and budgetary resources. We are seeking a colleague who is passionate about developing bold leaders and strong practitioners. Our program is dedicated to preparing professionals who are capable of promoting equitable access for children and their families in the areas of learning, behavior, and mental health. Our students learn to provide supports in schools, homes, and communities for individuals aged birth-21. A strong candidate will model educational and social equity through meaningful teaching, service, and scholarship activities. Our Department emphasizes the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, multicultural sensitivity, social justice, and competence. It is expected that the person who fills this position will promote the University’s vision to be a great private university dedicated to the public good and the College’s mission to be a force for positive change. Position Summary The full-time, 12-month Clinical Assistant Professor position teaches and supports students across our MA, EdS, and PhD programs which provide comprehensive preparation in the area of school psychology. A successful candidate will concurrently supervise the clinic experiences sequence and oversee the Clinic (e.g., scheduling of Clinic clients, marketing the Clinic, and collaborating with partner schools). The position of Clinic Director will include a reduced teaching load in recognition of the time required for this service. We expect candidates to demonstrate a solid understanding of developmental, psychological, and learning theories, general and special education, and legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice. Professional competency in research, measurement, program evaluation, assessment, prevention, intervention, and consultation with family, school and community professionals is also anticipated. Essential Functions Supervising the running and maintenance of the CFSP Educational Services Clinic. Market the Clinic to clients and the professional community; this includes developing and maintaining school and community agency partnerships to promote the growth of the Clinic. Coordinate the Clinic use and management with the Counseling Services Clinic Director, and any other parties interested in using the Clinic space. Manage the Clinic budget with the Department Chair. Communicate with other Clinic and College personnel (e.g., Counseling Services Clinic Director, Graduate Teaching Assistants, and Director of Clinical Training). Supervise the Psychoeducational Assessment Library. Teaching CFSP courses, including the school psychology clinic sequence during the four quarters (fall, winter, spring, and summer). Supervise the practica rotations of students in the clinic setting. Coordinate with the Director of Clinical Training and faculty teaching the Practicum and Internship courses, and the faculty teaching the Assessment Sequence. Advising EdS students, providing institutional and community service, and engaging in scholarship and creative endeavors in their discipline. Collaborating with the CFSP faculty regarding Clinic experiences to promote alignment of applied assignments across courses. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in School Psychology or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Professional Psychologist licensure by start of the appointment. Experience working in or with clinical settings. Experience (e.g., practica, internship, employment) working in or with P-12 schools with exceptional populations. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with a variety of cognitive, academic, social-emotional, executive functioning, and early childhood assessments. Demonstrated knowledge of general and special education. Demonstrated knowledge of 0-21 student population, typically and atypically developing. Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence, equity, and access in education. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing an educational clinic. Established record of supervising in a clinical setting. Prior teaching experience in higher education. Has or is eligible for NCSP license. Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods, approaches, and/or curricular perspectives that effectively engage diverse populations and learning styles.
