FRONT HOUSE MANAGER

favorite_borderview job
  • North Platte
  • NE

A restaurant’s front of house manager is responsible for overseeing an establishment’s dining room and customer experience. The specific responsibilities vary from restaurant to restaurant depending on size, staff, budget, and the general manager’s preferences, but the following tasks are almost always associated with the job: Interview and Hire Staff Front of house managers are responsible for a restaurant’s bar and waitstaff. Hiring the right people for these roles is critical to a restaurant’s success and reputation. Front of house managers must occasionally develop a specialized hiring process to meet a restaurant’s needs. Manage Staff Training Even experienced servers, bartenders, hosts, and bussers might need training to meet the specific needs of a particular restaurant, so front of house managers schedule and direct training sessions. Training is even more critical for inexperienced staff, so they also arrange additional training to help set new employees up for success. Supervise Upkeep of Guest Areas The front of house manager is also responsible for supervising the cleaning and maintenance of guest areas. Directing staff to attend to messes or accidents and assisting in cleanup are both critical responsibilities in maintaining the customer experience. Shift Planning Ensuring each shift is properly staffed is essential to running a successful restaurant. Front of house managers use scheduling systems to assign waitstaff based on anticipated demand. They also direct staff to handle unexpected situations and customer concerns throughout a shift as needed --> recblid 73z8kn8bcflbmwqzb2lmv1n3dmpde2

Outside laborers /Scale Operators

new7 minutes ago
favorite_borderview job

KAAPA Grains in Elm Creek is looking for temporary scale operators for our harvest season. Candidates should be dependable team players who are willing to work flexible hours through the harvest season which runs approximately mid-September to mid-November. Scale operators will weigh trucks, probe and grade samples of grain, and assist customers as needed. Please submit an application online at kaapaethanol.com, send your resume to [email protected] , EOE/Drug Testing Required Ethanol can be made by a dry mill process or a wet mill process. Most of the fuel ethanol in the U.S. is made using the dry mill method. The major steps in this process are: - Milling. The feedstock (corn, wheat, barley, etc.) passes through a hammer mill which grinds it into a fine powder called meal. The vast majority of ethanol in the U.S. is produced from corn. - Liquefaction. The meal is mixed with water and alpha-amylase then passed through cookers where the starch is liquefied. Heat is applied at this stage to enable liquefaction. Cookers with a high temperature stage (120-150 degrees Celsius) and a lower temperature holding period (95 degrees Celsius) are used. High temperatures reduce bacteria levels in the mash. - Saccharification. The mash from the cookers is cooled and the secondary enzyme (gluco-amylase) is added to convert the liquefied starch to fermentable sugars (dextrose). - Fermentation. Yeast is added to the mash to ferment the sugars to ethanol and carbon dioxide. Using a continuous process, the fermenting mash is allowed to flow through several fermenters until it is fully fermented and leaves the final tank. In a batch process, the mash stays in one fermenter for about 48 hours before the distillation process is started. - Distillation. The fermented mash, now called beer, contains about 10% alcohol plus all the non-fermentable solids from the corn and yeast cells. The mash is pumped to the continuous flow, multi-column distillation system where the alcohol is removed from the solids and the water. The alcohol leaves the top of the final column at about 96% strength, and the residue mash, called stillage, is transferred from the base of the column to the co-product processing area. - Dehydration. The alcohol from the top of the column passes through a dehydration system where the remaining water will be removed. Most ethanol plants use a molecular sieve to capture the last bit of water in the ethanol. The alcohol product at this stage is called anhydrous ethanol (pure, without water) and is approximately 200 proof. - Denaturing. Ethanol that will be used for fuel is denatured, or made unfit for human consumption, with a small amount (2-5%) of gasoline at the facility which produces the ethanol. - Co-Products. There are two main co-products created in the production of ethanol: distillers grain and carbon dioxide. Distillers grain, wet or dry, is a valuable livestock feed. Carbon dioxide is given off in great quantities during fermentation and many ethanol plants collect, compress, and sell it for use in other industries.
