In addition, this position will assist the Construction Supervisor with job development for the program. The individual will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week over five days per week. (There is a three-month probationary period). Job Duties and Responsibilities The YouthBuild Counselor/Life Skills Instructor will assess personal needs of students and help find resources in the community to meet their needs. Individual will 1) provide individual and group counseling to all participants 2) facilitate weekly life skills sessions/support groups, 3) advocate with human service, health, court, and criminal justice systems to resolve issues facing young people, 4) make home visits as appropriate, to assess needs and support their family, 5) assist youth with educational/employment goal planning and provides/coordinates resources for young people to succeed, 6) Monitors and assesses student performance and progress through activities, assignments/ portfolio and participation and 7) Works closely with Construction Supervisor in the development of job leads for the students. Manages classroom behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintains accurate and complete student attendance records and achievement progress.
