For a joint research project focused on the evidence-based investigation and conceptualization of an international online mentoring program for gifted and talented youth in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)—involving the Department of School Research, School Development, and Evaluation at the University of Regensburg (Prof. Dr. Heidrun Stoeger), the Department of Educational Psychology and Excellence Research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Prof. Drs. Albert Ziegler), and the Hamdan Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance (Dubai)—there is currently an open position as postdoctoral research fellow with the opportunity to work towards German postdoctoral university researcher accreditation (Habilitation). The postdoctoral research fellow will work closely with the project director and team members in the aforementioned research endeavor and will be encouraged to integrate his or her own research agendas into this context. The start date of the position is flexible, but we desire an individual to begin work no later than 1 June 2019. Responsibilities: Actively participate in the design, development, and testing of the GTMH online mentoring program Work with other team members on various preparatory research endeavors that include, but are not limited to, effective practices of mentoring programs, talent development in STEM, and optimal online Mentoring Work with other team members on designing and conducting relevant research and formative evaluation on the effectiveness of the GTMH once mentoring starts in late 2020 Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant-related reporting activities, and other dissemination efforts. Responsibilities: Experienced in performing security business application and infrastructure compliance reviews, risk analysis, forensics and penetration testing Actively monitor systems and networks for potential intrusions Lead, conduct and maintain security risk assessments, identify security vulnerabilities, develop recommendations, document findings and remediation plans Manage remediation plans toward closure Define security standards & incident response plans to detect, respond and recover from security incidents using a risk-based methodology Develop and document security policies and procedures, training and awareness Serve as a security expert reviewing and recommending security controls for network, application designs, operating systems, endpoint protection, mobile device implementations of new/updated applications and services Ensure business and technical requirements are aligned to security policies and are implemented within an allotted time frame to meet compliance. Maintain current knowledge of tools and best-practices in advanced persistent threats; tools, techniques, and procedures of attackers; related to forensics and incident response Excellent written communication and presentation skills with the ability to present complex security issues to a variety of audiences, including senior executives Must be self-directed, able to manage individual projects and/or act as part of a larger team. Minimum Requirements include: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent Experience: Three (3) years of experience in security related work.
