The Chief of Primary Care is 50% clinical and 50% administrative. As a supervisor, the Chief of Primary Care will oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of approximately 20 PACT teams and 30 Resident PACT Team lets on site. The Chief of Primary Care position is 50% clinical and will be providing acute care, chronic disease management, and preventive care for a primary care panel of 600 male and female patients. The Chief of Primary Care reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer. The duties for this position includes but are not limited too; <ul> <li>Supervises Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Advance Practice Registered Nurses.</li> <li>Completes all appraisals, proficiencies, FPPEs, OPPEs, pay for performance, disciplinary actions, and Time and Leave approvals.</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing, adequate alert surrogate coverage, and timely patient access for Gainesville Primary Care.</li> <li>Resolves Congressional, White House, VISN, and local facility Action Items, patients' complaints, and staff's complaints.</li> <li>Chairs the monthly provider meeting and assists with planning the bimonthly PACT trainings.</li> <li>Covers alerts and patients for Primary Care Providers when they are on leave.</li> <li>Practices in accordance with professional standards of care, core values and with a commitment to excellence.</li> <li>Utilizes electronic medical records in accordance with NF/SG VHS policy and other regulatory bodies.</li> <li>Participates in staff meetings, educational activities, administrative and other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <strong>Work Schedule:</strong> Monday- Friday; 7:30 am - 4 pm ( Occasional Saturdays) <br/> <strong>Financial Disclosure Report:</strong> Not required <br/> <strong>Basic Requirements</strong>:</strong> <ul> <li>United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.</li> <li>Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.</li> <li>Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.</li> <li>Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.</li> <li>Proficiency in spoken and written English.</li> <li>Physical requirements outlined below.</li> </ul> <strong>Preferred Experience:</strong> <ul> <li>Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.</li> </ul> <strong>Reference:</strong> VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. <br/><br/> <strong>Physical Requirements:</strong> There are no physical requirements for providers. They must only be able to practice medicine according to their privileges, in a manner that presents no danger to themselves or others. <br/><br/> <strong>Attention:</strong> All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. <br/> <strong>Note:</strong> Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment. If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
