The safety program will include initiatives aimed at operation of both commercial and non-commercial motor vehicles. Develop account specific programs and procedures that address injury prevention relative to handling, loading, and transportation of automobiles. Support a comprehensive screening, orientation, defensive driving and monitoring program to ensure proper qualification and accident-free performance of both CDL and non-CDL drivers. Responsible for ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies in a dedicated transportation environment Support company’s key safety program initiatives – Smith System Defensive Driving, Value Driven, automobile fleet safety and Videomatics (in-cab event recorders) Monitor driver performance through onsite and over-the-road review (including evaluation rides with selected drivers, and safety observations during the loading process) Communicates with drivers regarding core safety principles and accident/injury avoidance both on the road and while loading cars on the trailer. Monitor driver performance through yard observations and road tests.
