Includes a limited teaching load to meet the needs of the Traditional BSN nursing program. Leads efforts with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring part-time (adjunct) faculty. Nursing Program Director for Traditional BSN program Status Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time, Nursing Program Director for the Traditional BSN Program. The incumbent will provide leadership in the learning environment, curricular expertise and program evaluation. The role also entails participation in program and department planning and establishment of department goals and objectives. The incumbent will participate in departmental budgeting process by recommending expenditures to the Chair based upon input from nursing faculty and the needs of the nursing programs. This position will require an advanced skill set in teaching, project management, communications, event planning, calendar and expense management, and the ability to collaborate professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the nursing department and the University. The position reports to the Chair of the Nursing Department. Department Nursing Responsibilities Provides direct supervision of Traditional BSN nursing program Participates in the work of the Nursing Curriculum Committee and assumes chair of the Nursing Admissions Committee. Contributes to program improvement and to the development of new nursing curriculum and course revisions. Ensures congruency of the curriculum across the program and compliance with the State Board of Nursing (SBON) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Assures that students comply with the Nursing Student Handbook and the clinical agreements the department has with facilities and agencies where students are gaining clinical experience. Assures clinical agreements are valid with all clinical facilities and agencies and participates in problem solving as needed. Works with the Lincoln Clinical Council and the course scheduling to assure that appropriate clinical assignments are made for all Traditional BSN students. Responsible for the nursing simulation/skills lab and assures that simulation is appropriately used in the provision of clinical experiences for students in all nursing clinical courses. Assists the Chair with program evaluation and accreditation. Ensures that data for program assessment is collected from faculty and other sources. Includes a limited teaching load to meet the needs of the Traditional BSN nursing program. Leads efforts with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring part-time (adjunct) faculty. Assists the Chair with preparing the schedule, orientation and assigning of a mentor for full-time and part-time faculty. Participates in department processes designed to recruit, advise and retain students. Ensures that all students meet the ongoing requirements of the nursing program. Evaluates courses for transfer equivalency. Assists the Chair with mediation of student complaints as appropriate. Participates in department, division, and university meetings. Qualifications A Doctoral degree in nursing or a related discipline is required License to practice nursing in the state of Nebraska is required Expertise and/or teaching experience in a selected clinical specialty Demonstrated commitment to student academic achievement Demonstrated critical thinking, budgeting, and time management skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents Demonstrated written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills Must possess sufficient knowledge of, and experience with, undergraduate and graduate level pedagogy in order to effectively mentor nursing faculty. Must be able to operate a computer using the Microsoft Suite of software and other technology and equipment used in classroom instruction.
