General Summary: The Demand Planner is the primary subject matter expert regarding customer demand and is a key member of the Supply Chain team that is responsible for ensuring we have the right products, at the right place, and at the right time to meet our customers’ needs. The Demand Planner must possess strong analytical skills, business acumen, and interpersonal skills that allows them to build and maintain relationships with cross functional stakeholders. Essential Functions: Develop, maintain and optimize an 12-18 month rolling sales forecast at the item/customer level using the organization’s demand planning softwareIdentify and action visible trends within the various sales channelsProvide insight to the sales, marketing, purchasing and product development teamsProvide leadership and facilitation of the monthly Demand review (consensus) process that supports the larger SIOP processCompile forecast accuracy and data and develop proactive action plans to address issues/gapsCompare forecasts to the financial budgets, providing to senior leadership a clear overview of variances, uncertainty and risk areas to the businessAnalyze market response to new products and use this to develop forecasts for new items not yet introducedContribute to the inventory challenge process (excess and obsolescence) analyzing buying patterns of key customers and how they react to incentives, looking for alternatives to reduce such inventory on handPlan demand cutover when dealing with new technologies and how the affect the demand planDevelop strong relationships with the sales, marketing and finance teams to drive collaborative forecast planningActively participate in the company’s continuous improvement initiatives Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications: Must have at least 5 years of experience in a Demand Planning environmentEducation in Business, Statistics, Supply Chain or Materials/Operations Management is preferredExperience analyzing large amounts of information/data and developing fact-based conclusionsAble to solve problems using various analytical tools, including root cause analysisExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)Demonstrated sense of energy/urgency and ability to learn on the flyAbility to work cross-functionally with all levels of the organizationProactive, organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independentlyStrong overall understanding of the supply chain function and how internal customers utilize the demand planning informationStrong Excel skills are required for this roleKnowledge of NetSuite, Agile, QAD and Just Enough would be an asset Mental Requirements: Most possess the ability to apply sound judgement.
