This mid-level attorney will assist with the day-to-day corporate legal needs of investment advisor work, including federal and state and international securities law analysis and portfolio management and trading compliance related issues. Identify legal issues and provide legal advice of importance to the Boards. Qualifications 4-6 years of practice in a top-tier law firm or in-house with an investment adviser or investment fund. Knowledge of complex contracts, corporate transactions, and securities regulatory work. Experience with investment adviser and/or mutual fund issues is highly desirable. Must have substantial knowledge of federal securities law and corporate law; familiarity with Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act of 1940 highly desired. Familiarity with foreign investment company, investment adviser and securities laws a plus. Supervises attorneys and legal support staff in one or two TDFPS administrative regions and develops staff skills. Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy. Knowledge Skills Abilities: Expert knowledge of the Texas Family Code, the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, selected sections of the Texas Human Resource Code, the Texas Probate Code, the Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code, and the Texas Administrative Code, as well as knowledge of the CPS program Handbook. Excellent research skills in applicable law and policy. Ability to synthesize and advise the agency in implementing federal and state laws and regulations, case law and agency policy. Experience in representing TDFPS in court proceedings. Supervisory experience. Registration or Licensure Requirements: Graduation from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Initial Selection Criteria: Five years experience in the practice of civil law and civil litigation. Experience in court as an attorney for parent or child, or as an attorney representing TDFPS, in CPS cases.
