Senior Auditor is a staff level position established to assist management in identifying, analyzing and managing audits and risks. Supports audit manager with audits of Conifer operational and corporate areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Learning, promoting and upholding the Company’s policies and procedures Directing and conducting work in the field and in the office, with or without direct supervision, to accomplish audit objectives identified during risk analyses while demonstrating flexibility in responding to changes in assignments and job responsibilities. Preparing audit programs for review by manager and evaluating results and findings upon completion of audit. Making practical recommendations for process improvements while ensuring that recommendations reflect an understanding of the business and are clearly presented to and agreed to by management Directing and conducting audit follow-up activities Communicating results of audit projects to management and operations personnel directly involved with department projects Adhering to the department’s quality assurance process for planning, analysis, and documentation and reporting on all audit projects Staying abreast of best practices and providing a means for introducing those practices to the organization’s business units and processes Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing standards and an understanding of financial accounting and reporting processes. Knowledge of internal and external auditing standards and practices, including the audits of Information Technology functions Experience in reviewing the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information/systems and the means used to identify, measure, classify, and report such information Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities with quality and within a short timeline. Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced environment Effective interpersonal/communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) Effective time management skills EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job. Bachelor’s degree required. (Preference for Accounting, Business, or Healthcare Administration) Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience in accounting and/or internal auditing/internal controls A CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CISSP or other relevant certification is preferred Experience in the healthcare industry preferred but not required Experience with one or more of the following areas preferred, but not required: SOX testing, Information Technology audit, SOC reporting, data analysis, healthcare industry, or public accounting WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Products Tax Manager will primarily oversee tax matters for investment products. The tax scope will be primarily the US and Canadian products but will also include international tax matters encompassing a range of tax entity types. This role manages and oversees projects with internal clients, external service providers, as well as the broader Finance group. Responsibilities: Manage global FATCA/CRS compliance Liaise with foreign offices and other firm organizations (Portfolio Management, Sales, Investment Operations, etc.) on firm-wide projects Maintain ASC 740 and prepare related GAAP disclosures Complete tax surveys and checklists Maintain and develop positive working relationships with outside service providers Stay abreast of and advise management on current accounting and reporting developments in the asset management industry and corresponding organizational impact Research complex tax matters related to global fund structures and analyse and interpret results Respond to inquiries regarding the tax implications of cross border transactions and structures including management and documentation of transfer pricing policy Communicate effectively with internal Accounting/Finance group members Work with both the sales and portfolio management teams in creating client responses to distribution related inquiries Create tax educational resources for the firm as part of a value-add initiative Manage and contribute to ad hoc projects, as needed Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree CPA preferred Public accounting experience a plus 8-12 years of experience in a tax specialist role Background or strong interest in financial products/investments Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of people across various levels of the organization Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Self-starter who is capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines Proficient in Microsoft product suite Advanced Excel skills Able to take initiative, resolve problems effectively, and exercise independent judgment Experience in Investment Management industry Exposure to international entities/ global focus
